Suzuki is a Japanese car brand that was founded in 1909 by Michio Suzuki.  M. Suzuki was a weaving loom manufacturer for around 30 year before he wanted to expand and enter the automotive arena.

In 1937 he began working on his prototypes but World War II was looming and his plans had to be put on hold. By 1951 the cotton trade collapsed and he then ignited his automotive challenge to produce a vehicle. By 1952 he had built the "Power Free" two wheeled bike.

This was an enormous success and by 1954 he was making around 6000 motorcycles a month. With this great acheivement, he renamed the business to Suzuki Motor Co. and went onto to develop and produce the first Suzuki car in 1955, the Suzuki Suzulight

Although Suzuki may be more famed for producing some of the finest racing bikes, it's range of supermini's have been popular around the world and are deemed as economical, relaible and value for money. The Suzuki Swift today is one of it's best selling cars.

Suzuki had a brief partnership with VW, with VW buying a 20% share in 2010. However by the end of 2011 this agreement was terminated and shares were sold back in 2015.

Since 1985 Suzuki has been sharing and producing cars for the Fiat Sedici ( Suzuki Sx4), Ford Pronto (Suzuki Carry/Every), Nissan Pixo (Suzuki Alto), Mitsubishi Colt (Suzuki Carry) as well as with Volkswagen, Chevrolet, Mazda, Toyota and Subaru.
