The Peugeot 308 its in a tough class and includes rivals such as the Volkswagen Golf, Renault Megane, Vauxhall Astra, Mazda 3, Honda Civic and Ford Focus. Luckily the 308 can stand up to it's rivals and offers a good looking alternative that is packed with great standard features and technology.
It comes in petrol and diesel models, with a 1.2L three-cylinder petrol PureTech engine with a 110 or 130bhp. The 1.5L diesel offers 99bhp or a 130bhp.
The Peugeot 308 Active gets air-conditioning, Bluetooth, DAB radio, 16-inch alloy wheels and a 9.7-inch touchscreen. The Allure trim is a little luxurious and comes with front fog lights and front and rear parking sensors
The GT Line comes with LED headlights and the 308 GTI gives you a performance alternative to rival to the Renault Megane RS and Volkswagen Golf GTI.
If you have always dismissed the Peugeot, then I suggest a re-think and give the 308 a look in.
MPG, running costs & CO2;
Good fuel consumption with low insurance and Co2 make this cheap to run.
Engines, drive & performance;
Great car but does lack on overall driving fun unless you are getting the GTi.
Interior & comfort;
Comfy enough, modern and definately a few years ahead of competition.
Practicality & boot space;
Practical and fit for five people. The 500L boot space is great but does reduce the rear cabin space.
Reliability & safety;
It is fairly reliable and has an NCAP rating of 5.
