The new Nissan X-Trail looks and drives great, however, the final interior look and feel does feel a little poor. Compared to it's rival's, it does offer value for money and the X-Trail is fairly reliable.
The X-trail offers a limited choice of engines and does offer a seven-seat option, making it an interesting alternative to the Peugeot 5008, Skoda Kodiaq, SEAT Tarraco, or Volkswagen Tiguan. The X-Trail is also practical and with the legendary off-road capabilities and exterior styling, it can stand to compare against the BMW x3 or Land Rover Discovery Sport!
It's cheap to run, fairly reliable and has a low insurance group rating. Best of all it's made in Britain!!
It comes with a 1.3-litre petrol engine providing a 159bhp, acheiving around 38.5mpg. There is a currently a 1.7 diesel with 148bhp version that can deliver around 47mpg or 45mpg with the four-wheel drive version.
The Acenta Premium comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, navigation and fog lamps.. Choose the Tekna and Tekna+ if you have a good budget and want to include a few extra luxuries like leather and the ProPilot semi-autonomous technolgy that can take care of the steering, acceleration and braking in motorway traffic.
MPG, running costs & CO2;
Good fuel consumption with low Co2 and insurance.
Engines, drive & performance;
Well positioned and drives nicely.
Interior & comfort;
Comfy enough, modern and can come with more tech as standard compared to rivals. The overall finish is a little "cheap".
Practicality & boot space;
Practical and fit for five adults. The 445L boot space for the seven-seat (565L for the five-seater) is ok but not the biggest in it's class.
Reliability & safety;
It is fairly reliable and has an NCAP rating of 5.
