The Nissan Qashqai has been around since 2006 and was one of the first compact SUV crossovers to enter the market. The latest generation Qashqai is bigger, more stylish, sporty and fun looking, which is good enough to fend for itself when the likes of the Skoda Kodiaq, SEAT Ateca, Ford Puma Renault Kadjar, Mazda CX-5 or even the BMW x1!
It's cheap to run, fairly reliable and has a low insurance group rating. Best of all it's made in Britain!!
It comes with a 1.3-litre petrol engine providing a 140bhp or a 160bhp , both acheiving around 40mpg. There is a currently a 1.5 diesel with 113bhp or a 1.7 litre diesel 148bhp version that can deliver around 50mpg.
The basic Visia comes with 16-inch steels and aircon, which is a bit poor for it's entry model. You need to go for the Acenta Premium upward alloy wheels, navigation and fog lamps.. Choose the Tekna and Tekna+ if you have a good budget and want to include a few extra luxuries like leather.
The N-Tec model is the latest to the lineup and gets you black detailing to the outside and offers more technology like the NissanCOnnect infotainment system and the ProPilot semi-autonomous technolgy that can take care of the steering, acceleration and braking in motorway traffic.
The seven seater Qashqai+2 is no longer available, you will need to look at the Nissan X-Trail or others for this option.
