The Nissan Leaf was first introduced to the market in 2011 and for many years it was deemed a quirky electric car that wasn't going to have a future. For years the Nissan Leaf has inspired consumers with it's alternative fuel source and today has gained in popularity, proving to be a market leader in the new electric era. The Leaf has evolved and now looks more "car like", it's electric range  has increased and the overall drive is great. Compared to it's rival's, it does offer value for money and reliability.

The standard Leaf has a range of around 168 miles and the e+ Leaf can acheive around 240 miles on a single charge. Charging a Leaf is quite quick if you use a 50kW charger on the 40kWh battery, then you get an 80% charge in around 40 minutes. If you are charging at home, then expect the 6.6kW wall charger to take around 7.5 hours for the 40kWh battery or 11.5 hours for the 62kWh battery.

The Leaf certainly offers a better range compared to alternatives like the Hyundai Ioniq but a little further behind the new Volkswagen ID.3 that has a range of around 250 miles.

The basic Leaf has 148bhp which can go 0-62mph in 7.9 seconds, while the e+ can achieve 6.9 seconds with it's 215bhp.

The Acenta model comes with cruise control, alloy wheels, a reversing camera and a large sat nav touchscreen. The N-Connecta gains a Tech Pack, which includes parking assist, heated seats and tinted windows, while top-spec Tekna offers the 215bhp e+, LED headlights, a Bose audio system, extra safety kit and part-leather upholstery.

The ProPilot semi-autonomous technolgy can take care of the steering, acceleration and braking in motorway traffic.

Interior & comfort;

Comfy enough, modern and can come with more tech as standard compared to rivals. The overall finish is a little "cheap" and the drive is firm.
