The Mercedes-Benz GLB is a stylish and practical seven seater that was launched in 2019 as a subcompact crossover SUV. It sits between the GLA and GLC in terms of size and with it's affordable price tag, it allows Mercedes to capture more market share by offering an affordable driving experience.
Most GLA'a come with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and the diesels can have the 4MATIC four-wheel adaptive drive system. You can acheive around the 40-50mpg range, which is relatively common for this market. The plug-in hybrid GLA 250 e claims around 176mpg and 34 miles of electric range. For the performance savvy, there is a 2.0-litre turbo petrol AMG 35 that can go 0-62mph in 5.2 seconds. If that wasn't enough, then the AMG 45 S can do this in 4.3 seconds.
The GLA 200 and 200 d entry-level Sport trim gets 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control and MBUX with twin seven-inch displays. The Sport Executive adds all-round parking sensors, smartphone integration, wireless charging and a 10.25-inch central display.
AMG Line gives the GLA a more aggressive look inside and out, including 19-inch alloys, privacy glass and Artico leather sports seats with red stitching. The AMG Line Executive version adds the same extra kit as the Sport Executive trim, while AMG Line Premium brings keyless entry, an upgraded sound system, ambient lighting, twin 10.25-inch screens with augmented reality navigation, adaptive LED lights, and a panoramic sunroof. The Exclusive Edition trim, gets the AMG body kit, tinted glass, metallic paint, carbon-fibre interior trim, a sports steering wheel with metal gearshift paddles and sports seats.
Mercedes still stands out for stlye and comfort and can be a great alternative to rivals such as the BMW X1 or Audi Q3.
