The entry-level 194bhp 2.0-litre diesel is able to return up to 53.3mpg and if require more power, you can choose a 3.0-litre E 400 d with 340bhp.
There's also an E 300 de plug-in hybrid model with a 2.0-litre diesel engine, electric motor and lithium-ion battery pack. It offers low emissions of 36g/km, making the E-Class ever more populare with company-car drivers.
The petrol engines offer an E 200, with a 2.0-litre turbo with 182bhp which can return around 38.7mpg, or the E 300 e plug-in hybrid model which has the same 2-o-litre engine with an electric motor and 13.5kWh battery pack. This can return around 37g/km emissions and fuel-consumption of around 176.6mpg.
If you require performance in your E-Class, then the hybrid Mercedes-AMG E 53 has a 0-62mph time of just 4.5 seconds. Additionally, there is the hybrid Mercedes-AMG E 63 S, which has a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 that produces over 600bhp and takes it from 0-62mph in just 3.4 seconds.
